Real Stars Instead of Pixels
Should future generations still be able to see the same night sky we once did?
Thousands of satellites are already orbiting Earth.
Tens of thousands more are planned.
We believe the night sky is more than infrastructure.
It is part of humanity’s shared natural and cultural heritage.

2. Warum das wichtig ist Nature Many animals rely on natural light patterns and the stars for orientation and migration. Culture For thousands of years, the night sky has shaped navigation, mythology, science and human identity. Science Astronomy depends on a clear view of the night sky to expand our understanding of the universe. Future Generations Future generations deserve the opportunity to experience the same sense of wonder that inspired humanity for millennia.
3. Balance, not prohibition This is not against technology. We support innovation. We support global communication. We support access to information. But we also believe that progress and preservation must coexist. The question is not whether satellites should exist. The question is how humanity should responsibly use the space surrounding our planet.
Die Petition
What are we asking for?
We call upon UNESCO Member States to review and expand existing protection frameworks and examine whether near-Earth orbit should be considered part of the environment worthy of protection, in order to preserve the night sky as a natural, cultural and scientific heritage for future generations.
